JØRGEN M. HASLUM

The Norwegian bass-baritone Jørgen Magnus Haslum (b. 1993), began his studies in Bergen at the Grieg Academy and continued in Oslo at the Opera Academy. He then moved to New York to study with Mark Schnaible for two years. He is now a student of Yngve Søberg. 

During his studies he performed roles, such as: Figaro LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (2021), Frank DIE FLEDERMAUS (2021), Sprecher DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE (2020), Betto GIANNI SCHICCHI (2019), Publio LA CLEMENZA DI TITO (2019)

During his studies he was given chances to perform roles aside from school. He is very valued at Opera Bergen and has worked with them since 2014, in roles such as: Abimelech SAMSON ET DALILA Bethune I VESPRI SCICILIANI (2021), Commisario MADAMA BUTTERFLY (2020), Nourabad LES PÊCHEUR DE PERLES (2018) and Angelotti TOSCA (2017)

He also sang at Bergen International Festival as “Fiorello” in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA (2016).

In 2018 he won the second prize in Nina Grieg Solo Competition.

He has also sung concerts of Mozart’s REQUIEM, Handel’s MESSIAH and Faure’s REQUIEM.

He has a special affection for Lieder and has already built a considerable repertoire including songs by  Beethoven, Brahms, Grieg, Quilter, Poulenc, Schubert, Schumann and Vaughan Williams.
